FAQ
How much does Kartenfang cost?
Nothing. Kartenfang is a private, non-commercial project without ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Do I need to download an app from the App Store?
No. Kartenfang is a web app (PWA): open it in your browser and add it to your home screen. It then launches full screen like any other app.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, equally on both – in current Safari (iPhone, iPad) and Chrome (Android). You can also manage your collection on a computer.
Which cards can the scanner recognise?
English and German cards of the Pokémon Trading Card Game from every set since 1999. Japanese cards are not supported.
Do I need internet to scan?
Only the first time you open the scanner: it downloads its data once (about 45 MB, ideally on Wi-Fi). After that it recognises cards offline.
What happens to my data?
Your account only stores your email address. Collection, wants and binders are transferred encrypted and synced. Camera images never leave your device.
